I graduated in Economics from ISEG, Lisbon School of Economics & Management, University of Lisbon in 1995, where I was awarded the ICEP prize.
I received a masters degree in Applied Maths (Econometrics) in 1998 from the same institution. In 2002, I completed a PhD in Economics at Birkbeck College, University of London.
I taught at the University of Minho, Portugal, before joining the University of Surrey in 2004.
I co-founded CIMS, the Centre for International Macroeconomic Studies, and I have been Head of School, Director of Learning and Teaching, and Director of Postgraduate Studies at Surrey.
